I recently got myself a ProtectaCycle bike storage unit. Overall, my first experience was pretty underwhelming.

**Cons:**
- The store arrives as a flatpack that you have to put together yourself. I feel like TriMetals should be clearer about this crucial detail, especially given the price; it ought to come fully assembled.
- The floor, which is a key part, costs extra.
- Contrary to what TriMetals and some other folks claim, putting it together is NO walk in the park. I had to bring in a skilled handyman, and we spent over seven hours on it across two days!
- The assembly instructions are complicated and sometimes confusing. Some parts are shown in places that don’t line up with the online images of the finished product.
- There’s no guidance for anything beyond the basic setup, so if you decide to get the floor or the drop-down ramp, you’re on your own with no instructions on how to add those features.
- Also, there are no directions for attaching the front latches that let you secure the store with the included padlocks.
- You’ll need to drill holes in the metal to attach those front latches (TriMetals does provide a special drill bit for this), which means the product isn’t fully finished when you get it, and that’s a letdown.
- The padlocks don’t share keys, so to lock and unlock the store and the internal security cable, you’ll be juggling three extra keys.
- Even though it’s advertised as fitting three adult bikes, it’s a struggle to fit more than two, especially if you want to stash other gear like helmets and panniers.
- Looking back, I think it’s a bit overpriced.

**Pros:**
- Once it’s all set up, the store looks nice.
- It feels sturdy and secure.
- I have a feeling that in six months, after I’ve put the assembly hassle behind me and forgotten about the cost, I’ll be satisfied with it (I might swap out the locks for ones that use a single key).

The quality and design are really impressive. This thing is built to last and looks fantastic while doing it! Assembling it was pretty simple, though there are a lot of parts, so it took around 5 hours. The roof is a bit hefty, so it's better to have two folks to help slide it in. We had some queries regarding the floor, fixings, and locks - the customer service was truly exceptional the whole time. Highly recommend this place!

The crew was super helpful. I ran into an issue with the door handle, and they swapped it out for me. Really appreciated the good service!

We placed our order two years back, right in the middle of covid. Of course, shipping took longer than expected, but that was just the situation everywhere due to lockdowns. They kept us in the loop. Finally, it showed up. My husband is super pleased with it. He managed to assemble it with our son's help. No issues at all. It's fully stocked with gardening tools, cushions for the garden during the colder months, a lawnmower, and some garden chairs. No water gets in, so everything's secure. He's so thrilled with it that he tells everyone about it.

Ordering online was pretty straightforward, and the delivery arrived right on time. I had a fresh concrete base made for the shed, and I got the builders to put it up. The instructions for assembly are lacking, and with all the bolts and screws involved, it can get a bit tricky. Unfortunately, two parts that came with it were wrong and belonged to a different model. I managed to set up the shed, but because of those incorrect pieces, there was a little water leakage. After reaching out to Trimetals, their engineer, Terry, came by within a week and swapped out the parts, which basically meant rebuilding the whole shed. Since then (June 2021), it seems to be watertight as far as I can see. I think the assembly instructions could definitely use some improvement for a product that costs this much. Also, it would be nice if the wooden floor was included instead of being an extra cost. The door lock feels a bit weak, kinda like what you’d find on a metal locker. Despite these issues, I’m pleased with my shed; it has that classic shed look, and I’m pretty sure it’ll outlast the wooden ones for years to come. I gave it 5 stars because of how quickly they handled the wrong part situation; otherwise, it would’ve been a 4.

This is a fantastic item, super durable and just what we were looking for. Totally worth the cash for the quality.

***Edited note below, the initial issues relate to buyshedsdirect, not Trimetals*** The product arrived with two items in the wrong color and one piece completely missing. After trying to get in touch with customer support for over six months, we finally gave up. They said they reached out to the distributor the one time we managed to connect, but we haven't heard back since, which was about 3-4 months ago.

Without the missing piece, we could take the unit apart since it was a security component, making it easy for someone to steal our bikes. Honestly, it’s not worth the price at this point; it’d be just as safe under a tarp.

Edit- the issue wasn’t with Trimetals, but rather with the seller, buyshedsdirect, who had terrible customer service and kept turning down our attempts to fix the problems. So far, Trimetals has really stepped up to help with the issues they didn’t cause, reaching out to assist us with the problems we faced.
Update- just three days after providing them with the details on the needed parts, they arrived in the mail, and we were able to fix the shed right away.

As for the shed itself- it functions just as promised. It’s sturdy, looks great, and wasn’t too hard to put together with a buddy. I’d definitely buy from them again, but not through buyshedsdirect!

Awesome storage container, though assembly can be a challenge. It requires a base for stability. I crafted my own using sturdy plywood and attached it to the bottom of the container. I wouldn't call them cheap, nor would I say they're a great value, but I'd suggest checking out different options.

Awesome item and excellent support. The only problem was that the delivery came way faster than what was mentioned when I placed my order online. They really need to tighten that up!!

Fantastic item! We had to hang tight for a couple of months to receive our little shed, but we were thrilled with it. The construction quality is remarkable, and it was pretty straightforward to assemble. At first, one of the parts was broken, but I received a replacement in no time and without any hassle.

I’d definitely suggest Trimetals and would absolutely think of them first if I ever need more storage for my garden or bike.

Outstanding quality item. You won't be let down. It'd be great to expand the distribution network.
